International People with Disability Day Celebration
December 3rd 2019

AJP, Aboriginal Justice Program, Open Day, Licensing, CRC, License
Tuesday 3rd December 2019
10.30am - 12.30pm

At Marble Bar CRC,  Francis St. Marble Bar

We've received a grant for IDPwD day from the Department of Communities!

With the help of the Shire of East Pilbara staff from the Marble Bar office and staff from Marble Bar Primary School, Marble Bar CRC are putting on a fun day of activities and a shared lunch to celebrate people with disability.

We'll be having a BBQ lunch (with Outback Beef hamburgers!) and games designed to raise awareness about living with a disability, with HEAPS of wicked prizes to give away!

We are planning one-handed challenges and a one-legged race, as we have local people affected by these physical disabilities. With their input, we'd like to promote compassion and understanding around some of the difficulties they face in their day-to-day.

In addition to the games, we will also use the day as an opportunity to ensure information relating to local disability support services is prominently displayed. We will also highlight the local access and inclusion initiatives that have been implemented or have been announced by our local Shire over the past year, as they are currently seeking feedback on their Disability, Access and Inclusion plan.

TRAINING CENTRE OPEN DAY 2019
October 18th 2019

The Marble Bar Community Resource Centre is proud to announce the re-opening of our training facility and the launch of our new ‘Training Centre’ initiative.

We are planning an Open Day on Friday the 18th of October to introduce our initiative to the community, and provide an opportunity for participating organisations to engage with potential clients.
Picture
We envision the Marble Bar CRC will become a hub for study and education opportunities in the Marble Bar area.

Through videoconferencing, coordinating outreach and referral to partnering registered training organisations (RTOs), community organisations and other agencies, we hope to offer access to the following services;

Remote/distance tertiary education and support for individuals
‘One-stop-shop’ for information, advice and referral regarding education and training in Marble Bar and surrounding area including;
  • Delivery of training, short courses, certification courses and workshops in partnership with RTOs and skilled trainers
  • Enrolment and application support
  • Academic support
  • Apprenticeship/traineeship support
  • Advice and guidance counselling on courses and training pathways
  • Scholarships/training incentives
  • Administrative assistance and support (CRC Staff)

For organisations/businesses
Organisations and businesses will be able to access the above support, in addition to:
  • Upskill your workforce
  • Delivery/coordination of industry specific training/certification to groups
  • Off-site training for machinery and equipment certification
  • Training and advice for small business
  • Apprenticeship/traineeship enrolment and incentives support (for employers)

TRAINING FACILITY
The Marble Bar CRC training facility building was originally opened in 2014. Over the last years, the building has been disused due to issues with compliance and accessibility. We are now reaching the completion of works to remedy these issues, in the form of a brand new wheelchair accessible ramp and stairway, and revitalisation of the space.
The training centre is a fully powered, air-conditioned unit, with security cameras and an integrated alarm system. In addition to its capacity as the designated space for delivery of training/courses and workshops, the training facility can offer;
  • Room hire for meetings/conferences (includes access to toilet facilities)
  • A quiet, air-conditioned, furnished training/study space
  • Computer access*, including access to software (i.e. Office suite), WIFI and Ethernet internet connectivity and charging points for laptops and devices.
  • Printing & scanning
  • Access to an internet connected ‘Smart Board’ and whiteboards
  • Videoconferencing facilities (for distance learning)
  • Conference/Meeting room hire

Iron Jack Undie Run
2019 Newcrest Marble Bar Cup

Forget the horses - the biggest race of the Marble Bar cup has gotta be the Iron Jack Undie Run.
This year the prestigious event was taken out by Adam Viska.

History of the Marble Bar Races

This famous event has been held annually in July since 1893, it attracts an ever increasing crowd of between 2000-3000 thousand people. With a track surrounded by spinifex, red hills and a dusty two-up ring, the Pilbara comes together with miners, workers, families and travellers from across the world joining with locals and all the crew from Pilbara Stations near and far. The early days of racing were supported by district bred horses and a two day meeting was held until the early 70's when professional jockeys and registered race horses came into being. Over the years Marble Bar has been seen as a very successful 'picnic race' day, it is an event simply not to be missed!
